The IPL 2020 First Match will be played in the United Arab Emirates from 19 September to 10 November in Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. The government gave in-principle approval to the BCCI last week. The tournament is being held in the UAE due to the increasing cases of coronavirus pandemic in India.
Chairman Brijesh Patel said the Government has received Approval to conduct IPL 2020 in UAE
Patel told PTI that we have got written approval. He was asked whether both the Home and Foreign Ministry had given approval in writing. When any sports organization in India conducts domestic tournaments abroad, approval from the Ministry of Home, External Affairs and Sports is to be obtained.
A top official of the board said that after getting approval from the government, we had told the Emirates Cricket Board. Now that we have got written approval, the teams will be informed. Most teams will leave after 20 August. They have to undergo two RT PCR tests within 24 hours before departure.
The Chennai Super Kings team will leave on August 22 with a small camp at Chepak Stadium. The BCCI is also having trouble finding sponsorship after breaking the agreement with Chinese mobile company Vivo.
It was a Rs 440 crore deal that has been canceled for this year amid demands for a boycott of Chinese products and companies due to violent clashes along the border between Indian and Chinese troops. Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali has shown interest in becoming the new title sponsor.
Former cricket player Sanjay Manjrekar said- ‘MS Dhoni and Rishab Pant will play 2 IPL before next T20 World Cup
The 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to start in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 19 September. Now more than a month is left in IPL 2020 starting date debut and all franchise teams have started preparing for it. Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni has not played any matches since July 2019.
There was a lot of speculation about his retirement, but Dhoni himself has not yet made any official statement about it. Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson are seen as Dhoni’s successors, so there will be a tough competition between them all during the IPL 2020 First Match.
Former India cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar believes that both Pant and Dhoni have a chance to play two IPLs before the 2021 T20 World Cup. In such a situation, both can put their claim firmly.
Sanjay Manjrekar said on Star Sports’ Cricket Connected ‘show,’ When we last saw Team India’s T20 team, there is a difference between then and now. Now, there will be two IPL before the next T20 World Cup. It remains to be seen how the equations change with the performance of the players. Those who feel that their place in the team has been confirmed, they will get challenged.
It would be fantastic to see a player like Rahul. There is a lot of discussion about Dhoni’s career and Pant has not been able to impress much with his game in the recent past. Consistency and match-winning play is important. This IPL is going to be very big.
